Stuart Pechner, CPM, RPA, traded marathon running for beach swims when he relocated to pursue his dream of coastal living. As an associate director of Property Management at Link Logistics, he now manages South Florida warehouses and distribution centers from West Palm Beach to Miami. Read on to learn how Stuart brings problem-solving expertise and a people-first approach to industrial real estate—and how he's embracing life by the water.
How long have you been at Link Logistics and what's your role in industrial real estate?
Stuart: I'm an associate director of Property Management for South Florida, and my portfolio comprises properties from West Palm Beach to Miami and Doral. I've been with the company for more than five years. I moved from the DMV area down to Florida when I accepted the role, and I haven’t looked back since!
What do you enjoy most about managing warehouses and distribution centers?
Stuart: What I enjoy most is being able to help our customers solve problems while moving things forward to keep their operations running smoothly. My core focus, both personally and professionally, is to help people.
Tell us about industrial property management in South Florida and your team.
Stuart: I always describe Link Logistics’ Property Management team as a family. Everyone is really honest with each other. I take my cues from my manager, Luci Smith, who is truly the smartest boss I've had since being in this industry. She's taught me a lot and made me a better manager in how she deals with people. We don’t blame anyone on our team—it's only: "Here's an issue, here's my recommended solution." And then we discuss how to move forward.
What's the best thing about living and working in South Florida?
Stuart: My wife and I live in Boca Raton, about 10 minutes from the beach and very central to everything. Being close to family has been wonderful, and we take our dog, Hampton—named after the Hamptons—to the beach every weekend. We've made a lot of great friends here and have a wonderful life. I definitely don't miss my hour-and-a-half commute each way in the DMV area.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Stuart: My wife and I love to exercise, and we work out on a regular basis. I discovered swimming since living here and I'm now an avid swimmer. That's become my main form of exercise. I used to run marathons and half marathons—the last one was the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.—but as you get older, running isn't as easy. Beyond exercise, we enjoy walking Hampton, relaxing and being with friends. We’re also very proud of our son, who served in the U.S. Air Force and recently graduated from medical school. He’s doing great!
